Emerge Freight Alliance: Thriving in Africa & the Middle East

What’s the secret to success in the freight forwarding industry? Joining a business network like Emerge Freight Alliance

The role of transportation and logistics in Africa has grown recently and is of global significance. The region is experiencing steady demand for commodities (including oil, gas, and minerals) available locally and high demand for imports from around the world. However, the current unorganized structure in the region lacks the synergy the freight forwarding industry needs to serve this market successfully.

In this article, we’ll introduce you to the Emerge Freight Alliance to help you decide if it’s the network that can help you tap into this growing and in-demand market.

What are the benefits of joining a professional freight forwarding network in Africa?

Does your business have an interest in the African market? Joining the Emerge Freight Alliance business network comes with many helpful benefits. These include:

  • Immediate global coverage: Widen your business connections in Africa.
  • Network security: Our “Safety net” program secures member dues and receivables. The network has funds to pay any outstanding dues in the event of bad debt or member bankruptcy.
  • Trusted community: All members undergo a detailed screening process before being accepted into the network. This ensures that all members have financial stability, a good reputation, and sales strength. Once members, they are required to maintain the association’s Code of Ethics and guidelines.
  • Annual meetings and events: Meet other members at our annual conferences and live events. These events provide excellent opportunities for networking, business development, and helpful business workshops and speakers.
  • Global branding: Members can access additional opportunities for global branding and exposure. The network’s member list is distributed at other global logistics events and exhibitions, and your logo is included in network promotional material.

Do you limit membership?

The Emerge Freight Alliance doesn’t have a membership cap. Members must pass the screening process prior to acceptance into the network. However, some limits may be placed on each region or specialty members to ensure no over-competition.

Do I require an African headquarters to join?

No. However, your business is welcome to apply if you have business interests and activity in the region.

Can I also join other business networks or professional memberships?

Yes. There are many other business networking and professional development associations globally. Emerge Freight Alliance members are encouraged to join any other groups that they feel will add value to their personal or professional development.

Are there in-person annual conferences or events?

Yes. Our members get excited about our annual conferences and events. For example, the 2023 annual event in Istanbul kicked off the network’s launch with over 370 delegates from around the globe. The 2024 conference will take place in Dubai.

I just started my logistics business. Can I join?

Congratulations on starting your new business. Due to the strict vetting process, it’s unlikely that your new business will qualify for membership. We have strict policies and rules around financial stability, good reputation, and sales strength, which new companies usually lack. Contact us if you think you’re the exception, and we’ll discuss it.

How do you keep members informed about the industry?

The network publishes newsletters and sends regular communications to members to keep them informed about relevant industry and network news. To learn more about logistics in Africa today, read our latest study, Africa, The Next Big Opportunity
